Social Injustice

Just saw the movie 'Water'. It hurts to see how mankind ill treats their own kind, on the basis of gender bias. The female, who gives birth, gives meaning to life, nurtures her child to grow, but into what? A person who can't respect his own kind? How can human beings ill treat their own brothers and sisters. How does our behaviour then set us apart from cannibals? Misinterpreting religious texts for our own greed; rape, female infanticide and depriving a widow the right to live a normal life, these are examples of the cruelties that man has brought on his own kind. Is it right, that while our sisters suffer under such injustice and miserable circumstances, that we enjoy worldly pleasures that are merely destructible? Where then lies our conscience, which is supposed to help us differentiate between right and wrong? How can we ignore it and lead on with our lives? Life is meaningless if we are not the cause of a smile on the face of an unfortunate human. Our belief and faith lies in following the path of truth and selfless service for the welfare of all living beings. We should not let barriers come in our way when we stand up to fight for what is right.
